Corrections policy

FinanceFirst corrects factual, calculation, sourcing, and presentation errors as soon as they are confirmed. We distinguish substantive corrections from routine copy edits so readers can understand when a conclusion, figure, or methodology changed.

How to report an error

Send the page URL, the disputed statement or result, and any supporting source to our contact team. We review the underlying source, data period, definition, denominator, and calculation before making a change.

How corrections are displayed

Material corrections to research reports are recorded in a visible update log with the date and a plain-language description. When a correction changes the central conclusion, headline figure, or methodology, we also update the page metadata and structured data.

What counts as a substantive correction

  • An incorrect number, formula, unit, period, denominator, or source attribution.
  • A claim that is not supported by the cited evidence.
  • A broken calculator formula or result that could materially mislead a user.
  • A chart, table, or summary that conflicts with the underlying dataset.

Updates are not corrections

Adding a newly released quarter, refreshing an interest rate, or expanding an explanation is an update when the earlier material was accurate for its stated period. We do not change an “updated” date solely for formatting or minor wording changes.
